NEUSEELAND: Tourismus-Industrie wird immer nachhaltiger

Neuseelands Tourismus-Angebote werden immer nachhaltiger. Dies wurde jetzt bei der jährlichen, internationalen Industrie-Messe TRENZ deutlich. Mehr als 2100 im neuseeländischen Tourismusverband “Tourism Industry Aotearoa” (TIA) organisierte Fremdenverkehrsanbieter haben bislang das Versprechen unterzeichnet, mit ihren Unternehmen bis spätestens 2030 NetZero zu erreichen. Laut TIA haben sich auch rund 1100 nicht-organisierte neuseeländische Tourismus-Anbieter dieser Verpflichtung angeschlossen.

Für Neuseeland-Besucher sind auf Nachhaltigkeit geprüft und zertifizierte Unternehmen durch das neuseeländische Qualmark-Logo klar erkenntlich. Qualmark als Tochtergesellschaft von Tourism New Zealand (TNZ), der globalen Marketingorganisation Neuseelands, vergibt international anerkeannte Umweltzertifikate von Bronze bis Gold.

“Nachhaltigkeit in Neuseelands Tourismus wird jetzt von Reisenden global erwartet,” so die TIA-Geschäftsführerin Rebecca Ingram im NAN-Gespräch. “Als ein Land mit spektakulären Landschaften und natürlichen Sehenswürdigkeiten, die als Hintergrund für unseren Tourismus dienen, haben wir die grosse Verantwortung, Neuseeland für die Zukunft und kommende Generationen in dieser Form zu erhalten”.

Die Tourismusindustrie ist nach der Milchwirtschaft Neuseelands zweitwichtigster Export-Faktor. Die mitte-rechts Regierung unter Premierminsiter Christopher Luxuon hat erst kürzlich mehr als $ 13.5 Milliarden zur Verfügung gestellt, um internationales Marketing weiter anzukurbeln. Wichtigste touristische Queellenmärkte sind Australien, die USA, China und Zentral-Europa. “Auch in Deutschland werden wir Neuseeland in den kommenden Monaten wieder verstärkt bewerben”, unterstrich TNZ-Boss Rene de Monchy gegenüber NAN.

Die Handelsmesse für Tourismus, TRENZ, fand in diesem Jahr in Rotorua auf der zentralen Nordinsel Neuseelands statt. An einem Vulkansee  gelegen gilt Rotorua als neuseeländisches Zentrum für Maori-Kultur und Tourismus. Mehr als 1200 Delegierte aus aller Welt nahmen an der Expo teil.

“Wir sind die Geburtstätte des internationalen Fremdenverkehrs in Neuseeland,” erklärte Andrew Wilson, Geschäftsführer der regionalen Tourismusorganisation RotoruaNZ. “Die ersten Besucher erreichten uns noch per Segelschiff von Europa aus, um die vulkanischen Wunder dieser Region zu bestaunen.”

Obwohl die kleine Nation im Pazifik die vergleichsweise hohen Besucherzahlen von vor der Pandemie noch immer nicht erreicht, zeigt sich Neuseelands Fremdenverkehrs-Industrie zuversichtlich. Und 94 Prozent aller “Kiwis” meinen, Tourismus sei gut für das Land, betonte Tourismus-Minister Louise Upston. “Wenn es dem Fremdenverkehr gut geht, geht es uns allen gut”.

Die verstärkte Umsetzung von Nachhaltigkeit im neuseeländischen Tourismus wird dabei auch künftig eine entscheidende Rolle spielen, so TIA. (NAN 10-05-25)
