NEUSEELAND: IKEA eröffnet im Dezember in Auckland

IKEA öffnet sein erstes Geschäft in Neuseeland am 4. Dezember

Das Warten von neuseeländischen Fans von IKEA neigt sich dem Ende zu: wie der schwedische Möbelgigant jetzt bekannt gegeben hat, soll das erste Geschäft des internationalen Konzerns in Neuseeland am 4. Dezember eröffnet werden. Sogar Neuseelands Premierminister Christopher Luxon war bei Ankündigung in Auckland dabei.

Laut Radio New Zealand nahm Luxon zusammen mit Medienvertretern und anderen Interessengruppen an einer Führung teil, um einen exklusiven ersten Blick in das 34.000 Quadratmeter große IKEA-Geschäft zu werfen.

Der Stadtrat von Auckland riet IKEA, die Neu-Eröffnung an Feiertagen, Freitagen oder an Wochenenden zu vermeiden, um ein erwartetes Verkehrschaos abzuwenden.

Bereits im Juli hatte der Möbel- und Haushaltswaren-Gigant bekanntgegeben, dass er planmäßig noch in diesem Jahr eine Filiale im Einkaufszentrum Sylvia Park in Auckland eröffnen werde und bereits 85 der benötigten 500 Mitarbeiter eingestellt habe. Die Führungspositionen des Unternehmens zogen Anfang des Jahres rund 800 Bewerber an.

Jan Vanderstappen, Fulfillment Manager von IKEA in Neuseeland, sagte, dass auch Online-Shopping möglich sein werde – mit einem Netzwerk von 29 Abholstellen im ganzen Land. Der Bau des jetzigen Standorts hatte im Jahr 2023 begonnen.

Das Ikea-Unternehmen mit schwedischem Restaurant, das auch die legendären Fleischbällchen und Hotdogs verkauft – wird sich in Neuseeland über zwei Etagen erstrecken, zusätzlich zu einer Parkgarage im Erdgeschoss. (NAN 05-09-25)
