Neuseeland: Hohe Auszeichnung für nachhaltigen Tourismus in Aotearoa

Neuseeland hat nachhaltig operierende Tourismus-Anbieter ausgezeichnet

Ein von Maori geführtes Fremdenverkehrs-Unternehmen in Aotearoa wurde jetzt mit dem höchsten Tourismus-Preis Neuseelands für seine Umsetzung von regenerativem, nachhaltigen Fremdenverkehr ausgezeichnet. Die Kohutapu Lodge bei Rotorua erhielt den “Supreme Winner of the New Zealand Tourism Industry 2022”-Preis der neuseeländischen Tourismus-Industrie (Tourism Industry Aotearoa – TIA). Kohutapu Lodge and Tribal Tours ist damit der erste Gewinner der prestigereichen Auszeichnung, die in der neuen Preis-Kategorie “Regenerativer Tourismus” vergeben wurde.

Kohutapu Lodge würde als Unternehmen Aotearoa’s Kultur und Werte repräsentieren, die umliegende Gemeinden mit in die Geschäfts-Aktivitäten einbinden, ein herausragendes Besucher-Erlebnis anbieten und generell einen hohen Standard an sozialer Verantwortung zeigen, hiess es in der Laudatio. TIA-Geschäftsführerin Rebecca Ingram betonte bei der Preisvergabe, Kohutapu Lodge habe sich um nachhaltigen Tourismus verdient gemacht.

“Ich war überrascht, wie Kohutapu Lodge eng mit den umliegenden Kommunen zusammenarbeitet, wie dieses Unternehmen  regenerativen Tourismus lebt und atmet: von den tiefgreifenden Informationen für Besucher über die Te Reo-Māori-Sprache bis zum aktiven Schutz einer endemischen Aal-Spezies der Region”.

 

Naturverbundene Aktivitäten werden von Neuseelands Kohutapu Lodge und Tribal Tours angeboten

Gästge der Lodge können bei Bedarf an Dutzenden von Aktivitäten teilnehmen. Das Unternehmen bietet Outdoor-Abenteuer wie Fischen, Mountain Biking, Bush-Wandern und Trekking-Touren sowie traditionelle Maori-Kultur wie Weben, Haka-Kriegstanz oder nächtliches Aal-Fangen. Kohutapu Lodge  liegt an einem See und ist rund  eine Autostunde von Rotorua oder 40 Minuten von Whakatane in der Bay of Plenty entfernt.

Weitere Preisträger der diesjährigen neuseeländischen Tourismus-Auszeichnungen sind iFLY Indoor Skydiving NZ Ltd in Queenstown, Hollyford Wilderness Experience, Kāpiti Island Nature Tours, The Landing (das Unternehmen in der Bay of Islands pflanzte 1.25 Mio Bäume), East By West Ferries (erste elektrische Fähre in der südlichen Hemisphäre), Altitude Tours und Regional Tourism New Zealand.  (NN, 11-11-22)
