Kiwi-Sommer ohne Covid: Grossververanstaltungen sind in Neuseeland wieder möglich

Kiwis können den Sommer 2020/21 in vollen Zügen und erstmalig ohne internationale Touristen geniessen: Die Grenzen Neuseelands bleiben wegen dem Coronoavirus für ausländische Besucher weiter geschlossen und aktive Covid-19-Fälle in der Bevölkerung treten derzeit nicht auf. Grossveranstaltungen und Familienferien zum Jahreswechsel oder Reisen zu inländischen Attraktionen sind daher wieder ungehindert möglich. Tausende waren in der neuseeländischen Metropole Auckland unterwegs, um ein Feuerwerksspektakel am Neujahrsabend im Hafenviertel zu erleben. “Looking at the rest of the world: New Zealand is the place to be!” so ein Auckland-Besucher gegenüber NN.

Auch die Premierministerin Neuseelands, Jacinda Ardern, befindet sich derzeit im Sommerurlaub. Dieses Mal geniesst sie ihre Auszeit mit Partner Clark Gayford und Tochter Neve auf der malerischen Coromandel-Halbinsel. Ardern liess sich sogar in einer lokalen Eisdiele fotografieren, wo sie kurzzeitig aus Spass bio-dynamisches Speiseeis verkaufte. In einer Instagram-Message dankte sie allen Neuseeländern für die Mithilfe und Geduld zum “Ausmerzen” des Coronavirus in Neuseeland in 2020.

Outdoor-Grossveranstaltungen wie Musik- und Kulturfestivals mit zehntausenden Besuchern finden auf beiden Nord- und Südinseln wieder statt. Allein zum Jahreswechsel gab es landesweit rund ein Dutzend mehrtägige Rockspektakel, Food- und Kulturfeste. Nach dem Motto “Vorbeugung ist besser als das Sanitätszelt” bietet dabei die caritative Organisation “Know your Stuff NZ” insbesondere bei Musikfestivals qualifizierte Drogentests an, wo Konzertbesucher kostenlos und legal ihre mitgebrachten, illegalen Drogen auf Qualität prüfen lassen können. Vor allem in MDMA-Tabletten (Ecstasy/Mollies) werden nach Angaben der Organisation oft Verunreinigungen bis zu 50% festgestellt. (04. Jan. 21)
