The Germany based Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) is presenting core research topics in a new YouTube series.
The short films, to be released at irregular intervals over the coming weeks, feature PIK scientists and offer an overview of key research topics at the institute. PIK Director Johan Rockström kicks things off and asks in Episode 1: How stable is our planet?
Rockström explains the “Planetary Boundaries” framework in this first episode.
“These boundaries refer to the stability of Earth systems, and ultimately the planet’s capacity to support human life as we know it”, Rockström concludes. “Staying within planetary boundaries isn’t a constraint. It’s an opportunity to redefine progress – towards a world that is stable and just, where we’ll live healthily within the means of our only home.”
To be continued.
